Blackened Salmon

Prep Time: 2 minutes

Cook Time: 4 minutes

Servings: 4 servings


  • 4 Salmon fillets (4 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided

Blackened Spices:

  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to taste


Step 1: Combine thyme, garlic powder, oregano, black pepper, cayenne pepper and salt in a small bowl.

Step 2: Brush each side of salmon with 1/2 tablespoon oil. Evenly distribute seasoning onto both sides of the salmon. Add the remaining oil into a large skillet, heat to medium-high heat and the add salmon (skin side down). Reduce heat to medium and cook salmon 3-4 minutes until the skin is crispy. Cook 1-2 minutes on the flesh side until salmon easily flakes with a fork.

Additional Tips:

  • Use a metal spatula like this one Metal Slotted Fish Turner to easily flip the fish.
  • Serve with rice and broccoli for a healthy balanced meal
