PU! What is that smell coming from my kitchen sink? I cleaned the sink and it still stinks! Maybe, your garbage disposal is telling you it needs a scrub. A few natural ingredients used every 2 weeks or so, will keep your garbage disposal smelling sweet.
Garbage Disposal Cleaning Ingredients:
- 1 cup of baking soda
- 1 cup of salt
- 1/4 cup cream of tarter
- 4-5 cups boiling water
- citrus rinds
Directions for a sweet smelling garbage disposal:
- Mix the baking soda, salt and cream of tarter together.
- Pour 1/2 of this mixture down the garbage disposal.
- Flush with 2 cups of boiling water
- Repeat with the rest of the baking soda mixture and flush with the remainder of the boiling water.
Ah! Your garbage disposal is smiling and smelling fresher! Now, how do you keep it fresh and clean? Follow this procedure every 2 – 3 weeks.
In between deep cleanings, if you have left over citrus rinds or peels, grind them up in your disposal. The rinds will clean the blades and the inside of your disposal while making your disposal smell sweet. Who doesn’t like a sweet smelling garbage disposal?
